**First Monegasque leader of a general classification in the World Tour**
By winning this stage, the rider for the **INEOS** team, formerly Sky and shareholder of OGC Nice in football, also captured the **leader’s jersey** from Frenchman Paul Lapeira. Another achievement added to the record of Victor Langellotti, who becomes the **first Monegasque** **leader** of a general classification in the World Tour.
Unfortunately for him, he did **not achieve a second feat** by keeping the yellow jersey this Sunday afternoon. It was the American, Brandon McNulty, who had been defeated the day before, who won the Tour of Poland, thanks to his **victory in the individual time trial** of the day. Victor Langellotti finished **fifth in the general classification**.
In 2022, during the **Vuelta** (Tour of Spain), he wore the **polka-dot jersey** as the best climber for several stages. An achievement that allowed him to become the first man from the Rock to wear a **distinctive jersey** in a World Tour cycling race. A Tour of Spain that the Monegasque climber did not finish, forced to abandon during the 8th stage.
**First World Tour season in 2025**
Victor Langellotti signed his [first professional contract](https://www.velo101.com/actualite/interview-victor-langellotti/) in 2018 with the Spanish team Burgos BH, which at the time competed in the Continental division (the third level of cycling). He became the third Monegasque cyclist to turn professional, after Laurent Devalle and Albert Vigna, in the 1920s. He participated in his **first grand tour**, the Vuelta, in 2022, the only one to his credit so far. During his stint with the Spanish team (2018-2025), he **won two stages**. The first on the Tour of Portugal, in 2022, and the second on the Tour of Turkey, in 2023.
In January, he began his two-season contract with the British team, INEOS. He made a good start, with **two solid third places** on stages 2 and 3 of the Tour of Norway, last May. Results that allowed him to finish, in the general classification of this tour, in **third position**.
At 30 years old, Victor Langellotti is displaying his **best level** in his career. He is already leaving his mark on the **history of Monegasque cycling**. With possibly a participation to come for the Vuelta, which will start on August 23.
