David Nakache: “Opposing Zemmour, a civic duty”

Latest News

David Nakache, president of the Nice-based association “Tous citoyens!” calls on every citizen to oppose Zemmour in a statement. For him, opposing the controversial figure is a “civic duty.”

“Today, whether Éric Zemmour continues his presidential campaign or not, and whether progressive political parties decide to truly oppose him or not, it is up to each citizen to fight each of the theses he promotes, step by step.”

David Nakache has denounced the racism, sexism, homophobia, as well as the revisionism of Éric Zemmour, along with the policy he advocates, which he describes as “discriminatory and threatening to freedoms as well as equality.” According to him, his policy can only be a source of conflicts and “multiple sufferings.”

The president of “Tous citoyens!” also pointed out the lack of opposition from the right towards Zemmour, despite their emphasis on the necessity to form a republican front against the far right. According to him, this attitude strips the right of any legitimacy to be a “republican” right.

The city of Nice is not spared either, as he condemns, for example, the fact that the Mediterranean University Center has invited Zemmour multiple times “without opponents facing him.” Similarly, the deputy mayor Gaël Nofri recently welcomed him “for an almost campaign rally.”

As for the left, Nakache believes they have “too often buried their heads in the sand,” and the argument that discussing Zemmour would contribute to promoting him has actually resulted in a “guilty silence.”
