Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Holocaust: Yom Hashoah Ceremony

Yom Hashoah takes place every year, in Israel and all over the world.
This ceremony pays tribute to the 6 million Jews who died during World War II, victims of the Nazis and their collaborators.


shoah-2.jpg Thursday, April 19, 2012, at 5:15 PM, this commemoration organized by Yad Vashem, in partnership with the Consistory, will take place at the Château Cemetery.

Order of the Ceremony:

  • Reception of dignitaries by Daniel Wancier, President of the Committee for Yad Vashem Nice Côte d’Azur.
  • Opening of the ceremony.

  • Laying of wreaths followed by speeches from Daniel Wancier, President of the Committee for Yad Vashem Nice Côte d’Azur, Alain Belhassen, President of C.R.I.F South-East, Lucien Samak, Vice-President of the Consistory, Daniel Benchimol, Eric Ciotti…

  • Lighting of the 6 candles by former deportees.

  • Reading of the names of the Jewish deportees from the convoy departing from Nice.

  • Prayers by Rabbi Martiano and Rabbi Touboul.

  • Minute of silence.

  • Chant of the Warsaw Ghetto a Cappella.
