Fernande Bataille, the oldest resident of Nice, would have celebrated her 111th birthday next December.

Fernande Bataille, born in Rouen on December 5, 1906, moved to Nice with her second husband, Paul Bataille, in the 1950s.

Fernande Bataille, who served as an agent P1 and P2 in the “Maunier” resistance network during the Second World War, assisted the chief of an important sector in Bizerte, one of the largest military ports in the Mediterranean, which was then located in the French colony occupied by the “Axis forces.” As a Second Lieutenant in the Forces Françaises Combattantes, Fernande Bataille was awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Legion of Honor and the War Cross with palm on July 8, 1972.

Fernande Bataille also received the rank of Commander of the Legion of Honor, which was presented to her on May 8, 2015.
