France recorded an excess mortality of 22% between March 1st and May 4th, compared to the same period in 2019. However, this indicator, revised weekly, is decreasing, confirming the decline of the coronavirus epidemic, announced Insee on Friday.
This excess mortality was calculated by comparing the cumulative number of deaths – from all causes – recorded by the civil registry services during the indicated weeks, with the same weeks in 2019.
This indicator had risen to 27% as of April 20th.
