As a de facto member of the municipal majority, Gaël Nofri participates in the political debate regarding the renovation project of the Ray area.
He does so by providing motivated support to Christian Estrosi’s proposal: “This project meets strong expectations and achieves a quality balance that will undoubtedly be beneficial for the neighborhood by introducing renewal and necessary dynamism; security must be the focus of all attention because it is on this that the residents’ ability to take ownership of this space will depend.”
Before detailing his analysis:
“I am pleased to note today that the four points I had raised are now considered in the new project:
on urban balance: the green spaces are largely preserved over a total area of 2.8 hectares, and the announced construction remains limited to 250 housing units organized in human-scale buildings with sensible architecture.
on parking spaces: I was concerned about the proposed figure of only 300 spaces in total, whereas the neighborhood’s needs are significant. With 568 spaces open to the public, in addition to those related to private housing, the announced project addresses this important issue, both for the quality of life in the neighborhood and for the city’s transportation plan because of the connection with Tramway line 1.
on infrastructure for the neighborhood: the extension of the school is an excellent thing because it puts an end to a situation that has lasted too long: that of classes being held in prefabricated buildings.
on security: the Mayor announces an enclosed and closed space at night, a significant video-protection setup, and finally a parks and gardens brigade… This is one of the main expectations of the Ray-Gorbella population. The announcements made in this area are going in the right direction, and I think we need to go even further.
Therefore, I wrote to the Mayor of Nice this morning to suggest that consideration be given to incorporating a Municipal Police station in the project, which could notably house the brigade assigned to the park’s security, and perhaps even host visits from the national police, as is done elsewhere.”
