29 years after the discovery of HIV, the AIDS epidemic is still not under control.
In France, 64,832 AIDS cases have been reported since the beginning of the epidemic.
Since the introduction of new treatments in 1996, the number of people progressing to the “AIDS disease” stage has decreased, but in 2010, people are still dying from AIDS.

The PACA region is the second most affected region in France by the epidemic.
The Alpes-Maritimes is the most affected department in PACA with 2,943 cases.

Each year, the Alpes-Maritimes AIDS prevention collective, in partnership with the city of Nice, implements prevention and information actions.

This year’s theme is encouraging testing: issues and benefits.

In Nice, the anonymous and free testing center is located at 2 rue Edouard Bรฉri (Saint Roch Hospital) Phone: 04.92.47.68.40.

Open every day from Monday to Friday, consultations for HIV, STIs, and hepatitis B and C testing from 9:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., and from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Additional consultations for AIDS testing on Tuesday from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. and Thursday from 5 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.

Program for this day of mobilization:

2:00 p.m.: teams set out into the city to engage with the public, distribute informational materials (brochures) and prevention items (condoms), encourage testing

6:00 p.m.: large gathering, animation, prevention, speeches from officials and association members, distribution of hot drinks

7:00 p.m.: lighting of the red ribbon and a minute of silence

8:30 p.m.: presentation of the film ‘Life, Above All’ at Le Rialto cinema, and debate facilitated after the screening
