Deconfinement: the freedom of movement for motorists will be restricted

Christian Estrosi’s green turn is not to the liking of the person who, after the municipal elections, will most likely be his more “robust” opponent.

If the Mayor of Nice has chosen soft mobility that penalizes the “all-car” approach, Philippe Vardon is understandably taking the stance of defending the four-wheeler.

Christian Estrosi has taken advantage of the preparation for the end of the lockdown to launch a new attack against the freedom of movement of the people of Nice. Under the pretext of new bike lanes, Christian Estrosi is going to implement the ban or reduction of major roads in the city for cars.

For example, half of Gambetta Boulevard, which is essential for traveling on the North-South axis, will now be reserved solely for buses and bikes. Another example, the Quai des ร‰tats-Unis will be one-way, making it impossible to access the Port via the seaside when arriving by the Promenade des Anglais. All this will further congest roads that are already saturated…

Let’s not be mistaken: the goal is clearly to drive cars out of the city! The one who travels more often in a chauffeured vehicle than by bike seems to have forgotten that for many people of Nice, using a car is a necessity, whether for family or professional reasons.

Aiming to be trendy, not without some electoral ulterior motives, Christian Estrosi is preparing to further complicate life for the people of Nice! In terms of mobility, what our city truly needs is a genuine transport network for our hills.
