In France, the unemployment rate decreased by 0.1 percentage point in the second quarter, according to forecasts published by Insee on August 17. It thus returned to the 2012 level.

Indeed, these rates are comparable to those observed in the first quarter of 2012 – 9.1% in mainland France and 9.5% across the entire country.
This decline in unemployment benefits seniors, meaning those over 50, but not young people. Nevertheless, the trend is positive, and other employment market indicators confirm it.
Consequently, a decrease in the number of unemployed registered at Pôle Emploi is noted. Moreover, there is a record number of job creations in salaried employment over six years, with nearly 92,000.
Finally, declarations of hires for more than one month reached the two million mark during the last quarter.
