The unemployment rate fell by 0.7 points in the fourth quarter and by 1.1% over the year to reach 8.9%, reported Insee.

The unemployment rate, measured according to the International Labour Organization definition, an international reference indicator, reached 8.9% of the active population in France (excluding Mayotte) in the fourth quarter of 2017, stated Insee on Thursday.

It decreased by 0.7 points compared to the previous quarter and by 1.1 points over the year.

At this pace, all age groups are concerned, as well as long-term unemployment.
