They hadn’t experienced defeat since 2009, yet the Nice handball players have had to relearn how to lose in recent weeks. Nothing unusual after five consecutive promotions and a move up to the 2nd division. However, they will certainly need to hold on to perform well in a championship that is shaping up to be very competitive (each team has won at least once after four games).
On Saturday night at the Eucalyptus gymnasium, the ASPTT girls fell 22 to 26 against Noisy-Le-Grand. Though they started the match well (11-10 at halftime), they ultimately unraveled in the second half. It was a painful defeat but not critical according to goalkeeper Valรฉrie Nicolas: “It’s not a red alert yet, but we need to figure out pretty quickly how to shift into the next gear!”
Next match in Mรฉrignac, Saturday night, and see you on October 23 to follow the home game against Celles-sur-Belle.
