The group “my department first” has emerged. This birth is due to Charles Ange Ginesy’s refusal to grant key positions to the Estrosi clan. The majority party has been fracturing for several months. An initiative that will have little impact on the decision-making of the concerned elected officials.
There is static on the departmental majority line. Unsurprisingly, Joseph Segura announces the creation of a new group. Ego wars, desire to make their territory’s voice heard… There are multiple reasons. This decision was made after “several exchanges” and a “letter” sent to the president of the departmental council.
Nice’s Deputy for Finance Philippe Pradal does not hesitate to twist the knife in the wound. “The composition of your executive did not make room for this support. We acknowledge it, even though we regret your choice, considering our support as indifferent.”
A disagreement on form
The mayor of Saint-Laurent-du-Var, Joseph Segura, will lead the new group. The name “my department first” is a subtle reference to that led by Renaud Muselier at the regional council. “It will be composed of 12 departmental councilors. They are Franck Martin, Catherine Moreau, Jean-Jacques Carlin, Fatima Khaldi-Bououghroum, Anne Ramos, Philipe Soussi, Roland Constant. Martine Ouaknine, Françoise Monier, and Philipe Pradal will, meanwhile, be vice-presidents.”
Charles Ange Ginesy remains unflappable. He dismisses this accusation with a wave of his hand. “I can only regret that you were not invited to the first meeting of the group that was formed. It would have been completely different. We took note of your requests yesterday at 6 PM. The executive and the departmental majority wish for there to be an equitable distribution across all groups.”
But a willingness to work together on substance
Nevertheless, the former mayor of Nice does not forget to point out that the group is a member of the majority. “This choice of exclusion in no way affects our willingness to support you in your action.”
Philippe Pradal, however, issued a warning: “We will be vigilant and benevolent auxiliaries for the imperative of territorial solidarity.”
He also indicates that, “All the group’s members were elected under the banner of the departmental majority.” He hopes that they can have a “frank and loyal relationship.” Proof of this is that all voted for Charles Ange Ginesy during the first session. All with “strength” and “determination.” “We had proposed that no group be formed. That the assembly function under your sole presence.”
