With 235 kilometers of secure cycling paths and 1,800 kilometers of cycling routes, including 29 tourist cycling loops, the Alpes-Maritimes region is a prime area for cycling. At the heart of the Department’s Mobility Plan, the Cycling Plan will offer an additional 84 kilometers of cycling paths, bringing the total to 320 kilometers by 2028.
The major challenge of the departmental Cycling Plan is to develop and facilitate cycling for all uses and throughout the Maralpin territory. It has two main orientations: to promote the daily use of bicycles and to provide the Maralpins with a coherent, safe, and comfortable cycling network.
It involves four complementary development axes:
- The development of cycling infrastructures;
- The promotion of bicycle use in schools and public institutions (provision of bicycles in pilot colleges, 8 electric-assisted bicycles and 2 electric scooters made available by the Department to its agents for their professional travels, etc.);
- The development of bicycle access for โvulnerable groupsโ;
- Supporting the sports and tourism offer around cycling.
