Departmental Elections: The National Rally Does Not Hide Its Ambitions

Latest News

The former Frontists (now RN) of Marine Le Pen are itching to start the electoral campaign for the departmental elections next June.

In last year’s municipal elections, the RN was unable to elect any mayors, but its candidates nevertheless made significant gains and secured a presence as the main opposition in numerous municipalities.

Imagining that this time they could aim for a significant achievement at the departmental council level, historically “fortified” by the Republican right (LR)*, would be a risky bet, but it is certain that several of their candidates will be present in the run-off. Then… it will be up to the voters to decide!

The pairs (male/female) that were presented for the family photo yesterday are led by the departmental secretary Lionel Tivoli (who will run in the Antibes 1 canton) who expressed confidence in the outcome: “In this very particular context of a double-election with the regional elections, facing the ‘Les Républicains En Marche’ candidates [editor’s note: the alignment between the two parties will be the angle of attack for the electoral campaign] we believe that we can win in many cantons.”

16 candidates are local officials (municipal and regional councilors) and will be supported by the Rassemblement National, the Droite Populaire, the sovereigntists of L’Avenir français (founded by former members of Debout La France who chose unity) and Les Localistes, an environmental protection movement led by the European deputy Hervé Juvin.
