At the forefront of the political priorities of the European Commission, terrorism and insecurity are the most significant issues that the European Union must address according to the French.

In response to the threat, considerable progress has been made in preventing radicalization, strengthening cybersecurity, protecting external borders, eliminating sources of terrorist financing, and improving information exchange between member states, thereby restricting the scope of action for terrorists and organized criminals.

How can efforts be intensified to enhance the security of European citizens with all member countries?


Today at the CUM, initiated by Christian Estrosi, and in the presence of Gรฉrard Collomb, Minister of State, Minister of the Interior, and Julian King, European Commissioner in charge of security, the mayors of major Mediterranean and European cities will exchange views on solutions for public space security and the European funds to be mobilized to address the challenges of terrorism.

At the end of this meeting, the Mayors of major Mediterranean and European cities will sign the Nice Declaration, to officially commit to preventing violent extremism and securing cities in Europe and the Mediterranean.

For Christian Estrosi: “Towards a European harmonization of our national legislations that allows us to enhance daily security, rethink our public spaces and release a European fund to financially support cities that wish to secure their public space; this is the essence of the Nice Declaration that we will propose for a vote.”
