Dieudonné M’Bala M’Bala, 48 years old, artist and singer who had already been at the center of controversies for his statements, is making headlines again. And unfortunately, it is not for his artistic performances but for yet another provocation.
This time, the polemicist wrote on social media that he had participated in the republican march in Paris, and concluded with: “I feel like Charlie Coulibaly,” twisting the slogan “I am Charlie” from the gathering held in tribute to the victims of the attacks.
The feat, if it can be considered as such, resulted in the Paris prosecutor’s office opening an investigation for advocating terrorism.
In Nice, Christian Estrosi did not miss the opportunity to intervene and issued an order to prohibit a performance that was scheduled to take place on June 25 at the Palais Nikaïa.
In a letter published online, Dieudonné claims to be a scapegoat: “For a year, I have been treated like public enemy number 1, while I am only trying to make people laugh,” he continues.
Clearly, his problem lies there: By confusing freedom of opinion with the freedom to say anything, it has been a long time since he has made anyone laugh—quite the contrary. He should return to the basics and ensure that when he speaks, his neurons are well connected by the synapses.
It would be better for him (who would thus avoid being “persecuted”) but especially for all those who have to periodically listen to his foolishness.
Life is already so complicated without Dieudonné… Let him go to the devil!
