A show was organized to raise funds for the association Le Chemin des Rêves.
On this occasion, the amphitheater of the Garibaldi associations space in Nice hosted dance, sketches, and martial arts demonstrations. Volunteer artists came together and performed for a good cause.
“Disability is not a difference; together we will change mindsets.” This is the motto the association Le Chemin des Rêves fights for. Since 2003, it has been providing help and support to individuals with disabilities. Its goal is to organize various projects, such as creative workshops and sporting events. “We are all friends and volunteers. Tonight, we are united to raise funds for disabled children. The entirety of the proceeds will be used to finance a trip to Disneyland for them. A dream for every child that we hope to make come true in March,” explains Nathalie Battistelli, a volunteer and formerly disabled.
On this occasion, dancers, comedians, and athletes came together to support the association with their talents. The group Eux kicked off the evening with a comedic sketch known as ‘half-heavy’. The Krav Maga group from the 06 area offered a self-defense performance, followed by Studio 317, an urban dance school of young people from the Saint-Roch neighborhood. The show was imagined and directed by Arnaud Rimbaud, who also enjoyed performing on stage and participating in the sketches.
“It was important for us to participate. We like to have fun, so doing it voluntarily for Le Chemin des Rêves was a real pleasure. The idea of the American-style show, combining dance, humor, and sport, greatly appealed to us,” one of the comedians from the group Eux happily expressed.
Andréa, 12 years old and a part of the urban dance group, states, “I wanted to participate to make the disabled children happy and show them that we’re here for them.”
“Our greatest thanks is seeing the children get up and dance to the song ‘Happy’ with the others.”
From the audience’s side, nearly 100 people filled the amphitheater. This turnout was anticipated by Christophe Lenoble, president of the association Le Chemin des Rêves. “The amphitheater was graciously lent to us by the City Hall of Nice. It has a capacity of 160 people; we welcomed nearly a hundred, which was our goal,” he declares.
“The association’s challenge is to break down the barriers of difference. When I created the association, I wanted to do something beyond what already existed, through a friendly, family-like structure for all types of disabilities. The aim was to connect able-bodied and disabled people to erase this difference. Today, our greatest thanks to N. Battistelli and myself is seeing the children get up and dance to the song with the others,” concludes the president of the association.
