We are saddened to inform our readers of the passing of Thierry Jan, who for many years was our “culture” contributor.
A solitary man but not immersed in loneliness, books kept him company, and they were the subject of his notes that we had the pleasure of publishing. Thierry displayed his knowledge in conversations, always enriched by his balanced analysis.
He also loved to stroll in nature, visiting the villages of the hinterland with his snack as his only companion. There too, he would send us his observations on the beauty of the places.
He left without a sound, just as he had lived. For this practicing Catholic, the 6 PM Mass was an essential appointment; life has not ended as a new life has just begun, that of the hereafter.
