Christian Estrosi has just introduced four of the six members of the “Independent Ethics Committee” related to the exercise of municipal mandates. The full Committee will be presented after the holidays. Anticor 06, which positions itself as the guardian of public probity, quickly responded through its departmental headโฆ
First of all, note that the presented composition already violates the ethical charter that candidate Estrosi had committed to respecting โ under threat of resignation โ before the municipal elections… What a start! Indeed, he had promised that this committee would be equally composed of independent figures (legal professionals…) and elected officials from the ranks of both the majority and the opposition. In the end, there will be neither elected officials nor figures chosen by the opposition. For now, four of the six members have been directly appointed by the mayor himself… There are better guarantees of independence!
It is also recalled that Marc Concas* had very kindly proposed to the mayor during the municipal council meeting on April 18, 2014, to appoint a representative of Anticor: Regarding the members who might make up this ethics committee, I take this opportunity to remind you that Anticor, a national association well-versed in the fight against corruption and possessing specific expertise, could perhaps be part of this ethics committee by appointing a national or departmental representative. This is a proposal I present to you. These people have real expertise, and it seems relevant to utilize it.
Christian Estrosi immediately refused this proposal after personally attacking me, in my capacity as head of Anticor 06. He notably accused me of “trying to catch the mayor of Nice in breach”โฆ
I conclude that, for him, the only “independent” members worth associating with are those who, on the one hand, are chosen by him and who, on the other hand, commit never to challenge him!
