Remember a few years ago, a debate on France 3 between Mr. Peyrat and Mr. Mottard. The latter raised the issue of musicians and artists from Nice mired in their problems of existence in this city aspiring to be known as a City of Culture. Mr. Peyrat’s response was pronounced with a certain disdain: “But sir, I am speaking to you of art here, not child’s play.”

By depriving its emerging artists of necessary tools, Nice sees its demographic aging. Nice is becoming an archaic capital compared to its main rivals who have understood the economic and identity stakes represented by this art.

How to manage these infrastructures?

It is not enough just to build (or renovate) this long-awaited hall; it also needs to be available and affordable to all the cultural representatives of Nice. The argument of the 700-seat hall at Nikaรฏa makes it clear that a small association with limited means, wishing to promote young emerging Niรงois artists to gain experience, and to finally see Niรงois artists rise to national prominence without having to relocate elsewhere, cannot access it or only with financial risks that endanger their own situation.

To finally manage this hall of the people, a real municipal and regional commitment is necessary, united in the will to make Nice a capital of all cultures.
