The senator from Alpes-Maritimes, Dominique Estrosi-Sassone, was elected this afternoon as the head of the Economic Affairs Committee.
One of the eight standing committees of the Senate is now led by a woman. And it is the senator from the Alpes-Maritimes department who had the honor of being elected. An โimmense honorโ for someone who has been serving in the Senate for nine years. At 64, Dominique Estrosi-Sassone is gaining more prominence on the national political scene. She succeeds Guillaume Kasbarian, the deputy of the 1st constituency of Eure-et-Loire, who has been in post since June 2022.
The Economic Affairs Committee remains competent until a bill or proposal has been definitively decided. It is responsible for various areas such as industry, domestic and foreign trade, and housing. The latter is a focal point for the senator, known for her work with the Federation of Public Housing Offices.
