With eight short stories, each evoking a neighborhood, a corner, or a location in our city of Nice, the author takes us through characters into a dreamlike universe.
Political events and social struggles are mentioned: 1936, 1968, 1981, and the hero finds himself in a universe where he cannot control the course of events. Is he in love? Almost always, he succumbs to the sirens, these heroines who fleetingly emerge in his life. Then there is September 11, and he revisits the mysterious girl he met at Ferber in front of the Ajaccio Nice Caravel monument, “We will meet again, it is written.” His plane crashes into one of the towers.
There is the deceased who reflects in his coffin. The night of love after May 10, 1981, Mount Chauve, a whole psychoanalysis of the characters. The Spanish Civil War and the Popular Front. Then as a conclusion, a science fiction story with exchanges of monuments between cities around the world. The 21st century then begins its second part.
These eight short stories, with writing that is light, ethereal, and fresh, invite the reader to discover eight neighborhoods of Nice from a different perspective.
Patrick Mottard reveals a confession to us, he loves his city, he loves Nice, and you will love this collection of short stories.
