Since Tuesday morning, the Liautaud tunnel has been closed to traffic for an indefinite period.

The Nice Côte d’Azur metropolis announced this morning via a press release that an accident occurred yesterday morning during the standardization work on the Liautaud tunnel, with a part of the fire prevention structure falling from the arch of the tunnel.

The Garibaldi-Barla section has been closed to traffic.

The City of Nice has therefore asked the project manager to propose an action plan to determine the current risks and the measures to take to safely reopen the tunnel.

After the risk assessment carried out last night, the existing risks require that the tunnel remains closed for an indefinite period.

As this tunnel is one of the most frequented in the city, its closure caused numerous traffic jams this morning.
