The traditional city award ceremony for high school graduates with “highest honors” took place yesterday in the magnificent setting of the Villa Massรฉna garden.
The recipients, in good number and accompanied by their very proud parents, received the diploma in the presence of several principals and other members of the Nice academy.
A beautiful afternoon for these young people who have brilliantly succeeded in transitioning out of adolescence and who will embark on the diverse and varied paths of higher education in the fall.
The Mayor of Nice wanted to express his satisfaction to the young high school graduates and wish them a bright future, recalling the origins of this diploma, which was established by Napoleon in 1808 with the creation of the University of France.
Since then, much water has flowed under the bridges, and the 31 graduates of the first cohort have now become thousands and thousands, thanks to equal opportunities and republican meritocracy.
It is true that this little extra, which is the “highest honors” distinction, bodes well for many of them.
Finally, among the 197 eligible, special congratulations go to Thomas Schmitt, who achieved the highest average (19.86/20), the youngest laureate Victoire Bonaud (15 years old), the youngest male laureate Simon Bahadoran (16 years old), the “twins Louis and Maxime De Moro (17 years old), united also in success, and finally, to Jean Grimaldi, the departmental laureate of the national Resistance and Deportation competition.
