75 years ago, on July 7, 1944, Séraphin TORRIN and Ange GRASSI from the commune of Gattières were hanged by the Germans on the lampposts of Victory Avenue, which is now known as Avenue Jean Médecin.


As every year, a tribute will be paid to the two resistance fighters on Sunday, July 7, at 6:45 PM, at the Place des Déportés in Gattières, and at 8:30 PM, wreaths will be laid in front of the memorials and then a ceremony will be held at 9 PM in Nice.

On May 31 and July 3, 1944, the population of Gattières was gathered by the Germans. 70 people from Gattières were deported, among them TORRIN and GRASSI, who were hanged by the Nazis.
