Early snow and first openings in the Alpes-Maritimes, we reveal the schedule of the resorts.

Latest News

The first snowfalls in November have allowed an early opening of Isola 2000 and confirmed the dates for other resorts in the department. The ski areas are preparing to welcome skiers as winter gradually sets in over the azure massif.

With the winter temperatures that have hit the region for the past ten days, the stations in the Alpes-Maritimes are rubbing their hands in anticipation. The first significant snowfalls have arrived earlier than expected. On November 21, more than 40 centimeters of snow were recorded at the bottom of the slopes of Isola 2000. This situation led the town hall to move up the opening of the slopes to the weekend of November 29-30. Continuous operation will resume on December 6, as initially announced.

This development follows an initial snowy episode occurring on November 7. On that day, between 10 and 15 centimeters covered the stations of Isola 2000, Auron, Valberg, or Valberg-Beuil. The images broadcasted showed roofs and roads under a white blanket from the morning. This early return of snow initiated the preparation of the domains.

The territory of Alpes-Maritimes has fifteen stations. They encompass 460 kilometers of alpine slopes and 150 kilometers of Nordic spaces. The azure massif offers a unique situation, with domains situated between 1,400 and 2,700 meters of altitude and accessible quickly from the coast. On clear days, six stations allow for a view of the Mediterranean from their peaks.

Opening dates vary depending on snowfall and local configurations. Auron and Isola 2000 plan a definitive opening on December 6. Valberg maintains its schedule for December 20. Village stations, like Roubion-les-Buisses or Val Pelens, also announce service initiation between December 20 and 27. Some Nordic spaces, including Le Borรฉon, Saint-Dalmas-le-Selvage, or Castรฉrino, will refine their schedule in the coming weeks.

Stations with family atmospheres

The stations in the department are distinguished by their diversity. The large domains, like Auron, Isola 2000, and Valberg, concentrate the majority of alpine slopes. Isola 2000 is presented as a “land of champions.” The domain reaches 2,700 meters and offers spaces dedicated to freestyle. Auron is organized around four sectors. Valberg and Beuil promote a family-friendly approach and an environmental commitment recognized by the Flocon Vert label.

Village stations like La Colmiane, Roubion, Turini Camp dโ€™Argent, or Val Pelens favor formats suitable for a family audience. La Colmiane offers, for example, a 2,663-meter zip line and a wide choice of activities outside of skiing. Turini offers beginner-friendly slopes. Roubion-les-Buisses highlights its views over the Mercantour.

Nordic spaces also hold a significant place. Le Borรฉon, Castรฉrino, Estenc-Entraunes, Peรฏra-Cava, or Saint-Dalmas-le-Selvage focus on cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and hiking at altitude. These sites complete the offer by providing routes in the forest or high mountain areas.

For several years, the activity is no longer limited to the winter season but extends to four-season leisure. The stations highlight equipment developed in the Vรฉsubie valley, like the Vesubia Mountain Park or the Pure Montagne accommodations. These infrastructures allow for structured reception beyond just the winter period.

In this context, the early opening of Isola 2000 becomes a first signal for the entire department. It marks the beginning of a series of openings that will extend until the end of December. The stations will use this period to test the slopes, prepare activities, and welcome the first visitors. Weather conditions and the level of snow cover will remain a decisive parameter for achieving a good season, as every year.

Professionals remain attentive to the evolution of the snow in the coming days. The first snowfalls have enabled the season to start. They provide a base for the opening of the major domains and the preparation of the village stations.
