EARTH HOUR: Nice Turns Off Its Lights for 1 Hour to Let the Planet Breathe

As every year, Earth Hour, initiated by WWF, mobilizes cities, citizens, public authorities, and economic players worldwide to demonstrate their commitment to the planet with a strong gesture: turning off the lights for one hour.

In 2018, 188 participants and territories around the world took part in the operation and turned off their iconic buildings.

A call is made for everyone to participate.


This year, the City of Nice will turn off its iconic buildings starting at 8:30 PM, saving a total energy of 1,500 kWh:

¨ The Castle Hill > energy saving of 1,000 kWh

¨ The Masséna High School > energy saving of 150 kWh

¨ The Masséna Museum > energy saving of 110 kWh

¨ The Raoul Mille Library > energy saving of 30 kWh

¨ The Phoenix Park Greenhouse > energy saving of 30 kWh

¨ The palms of the Promenade des Anglais > energy saving of 22 kWh

¨ The Basilica of Notre Dame > energy saving of 10 kWh

¨ The Courthouse > energy saving of 3 kWh

¨ The Saint Dominique Tower > energy saving of 3 kWh

¨ The Saint François Tower > energy saving of 3 kWh

¨ The City Hall > energy saving of 1 kWh

¨ The Mediterranean University Centre > energy saving of 5 kWh

¨ The Louis Nucera Library > energy saving of 1 kWh
