This Saturday, March 23, from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM, the city of Nice will turn off its lights for one hour. “Earth Hour, 60 minutes for the planet,” is initiated by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) to engage as many people as possible around the issue of climate change.
Earth Hour is now the largest demonstration in favor of the fight against climate change. Commonly known as One Hour for the Planet, it is an annual event held every last Saturday of March.
Hundreds of millions of people are expected to participate worldwide.
The lighting on sites such as Castle Hill, the Monument to the Dead, the Axial Gardens, the Pergolas on the Promenade des Anglais, and the faรงade of the Mediterranean University Center (CUM) will be turned off for one hour.
Residents of the Metropolis are invited to participate in this symbolic action aimed at raising awareness about climate change.
It involves turning off lights and unplugging non-essential electrical devices for one hour to promote electricity savings and, consequently, the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and the fight against global warming.
