“The Prime Minister and the members of the Government have announced today the deployment of the deconfinement plan. Clear principles have been set, along with a necessary resumption of activities and a timeline:
โข On the health front, the challenges and method have been clearly explained. The set objective is clear: to break the chain of contamination while loosening the grip of confinement.
โข On the economic front, in light of the historic crisis we are experiencing, the issue has been well handled from the outset. The principle of a controlled and epidemic-adapted resumption of activity is very clearly stated today. I wish to commend the announcement of the outright elimination of social contributions for the 3 months of confinement we have experienced.
Similarly, the announced relaxation measures for beaches and nautical stations are a sign of true responsiveness to local elected officials. Mayors will be able to request the reopening of their beaches from the Prefects! This is a strong signal of differentiation and very good news for the summer season, which I hope will be clearly extended to recreational and nautical activities.
โข Finally, on the transportation front, even though the principles are very clear, the concrete implementation of the announced measures promises to be very complicated.
In Provence-Alpes-Cรดte d’Azur, TER traffic will be ensured from May 11th at 75% during peak hours, and at 50% on average.
Overall, I emphasize the reminded necessity of the link between the State, its decentralized services, and all local elected officials. The civility and common sense of all our citizens will allow us to face with serenity and rigor this new phase. It is crucial because it should enable us to further reduce the epidemic while regaining our social, economic, and cultural life. We must reclaim our freedoms!”
Renaud Muselier, President of the Provence Alpes Cรดte d’Azur Regional Council
