Eco-systems: the annual meetings of the Euro-Mediterranean Network at the Citadel of Villefranche-sur-Mer

Latest News

The Marine World Discovery Center is organizing the 12th Youth and Mediterranean Congress from September 27 to 30 in Villefranche-sur-Mer.

The official inauguration will take place on Wednesday, September 28 at 9:00 am in the large auditorium of the Citadel of Villefranche-sur-Mer.

Each year, the congress brings together members of the REM, new representatives with the aim of developing and sustaining the Euro-Mediterranean Network and being able to collectively create tools, projects, and sustainable and/or occasional actions on the scale of our sea.

These strong ties show that everywhere around the shores, there are environmental concerns, perhaps different but existential.

This network grows over the years, represented by numerous delegations from all shores, concerned about the future of our Sea.

The 2011 theme: “Managing Pollution in the Mediterranean”

Featured Country: Tunisia

The Mediterranean is in danger, and pollution is damaging the ecosystems!

These 12th meetings are essential to ensure the protection of our precious basin and preserve its biodiversity.

During these 3 days of debates and reflections, key players in marine environmental protection from the Mediterranean region (associations, researchers, schools, institutions, experts…) will gather to discuss the future of our Mediterranean.

This year, the theme developed will be “managing pollution in the Mediterranean,” and the featured country for 2011 is Tunisia.

The participants of the event will attempt to find solutions together to this scourge, sharing practices from their countries, and exploring how to tackle these issues.

The highlights of the event will revolve around the youth’s perspective on pollution: Presentation of actions taken on March 21 for Mediterranean Day on this theme.

Around expert conferences: reflections/debates on the theme of the year, then through workshops: Network tools, educational tools on pollution, and expert interventions.
