Economy: The annual inflation rate in France was 0.2% in the month of July.

Annual inflation in the OECD area slowed to 0.8% in July 2016, from 0.9% in June. It remained stable in France (at 0.2%) and in Japan (at -0.4%). However, it slightly increased in Germany (to 0.4% from 0.3%), in Italy (to -0.1% from -0.4%) and in the United Kingdom (to 0.6% from 0.5%).


During the same period, energy prices fell at a faster rate in July than in June 2016 (-7.8% versus -7.1%), while food prices slightly increased (0.1% versus 0.0%). Excluding food and energy, annual inflation in the OECD area remained broadly stable at 1.8% in July.

Annual inflation in the G20 area slowed to 2.2% in July, from 2.3% in June.

Outside the OECD area, annual inflation decreased in Saudi Arabia (to 3.8% from 4.1%), in the Russian Federation (to 7.2% from 7.5%), in Indonesia (to 3.2% from 3.5%), in Brazil (to 8.7% from 8.8%), and in China (to 1.8% from 1.9%).

However, it was stable in South Africa (at 6.5%) for the fourth consecutive month and increased in India (to 6.5% from 6.1%).
