After a very dynamic start to the year, GDP stagnated in the second quarter, according to the first estimates published by Insee this Friday morning.
Michel Sapin, Minister of Budget, acknowledges that the figure is “disappointing,” but according to him, it “does not call into question the growth forecast of 1.5% for 2016.”
The National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (Insee), however, slightly revised up the growth of the first quarter to +0.7% compared to +0.6%.
Bercy, however, emphasizes that “the French economy remains on a recovery trajectory.”
