Editorial: Nice-Premium and… 2011!

During this time of well-wishing, what should we wish for ourselves?
What are the prospects for this new, 10th year on the azure web?

That is the question we, the (micro) team of Nice Premium, have asked ourselves in these first days of 2011.

After 10 years of activity, we feel (a tad) like an integral part of the media landscape of Nice and its region, if only due to the honor given to us by Google News, which considers us on par with some major titles in the French-speaking press.

โ€œFlatus vocisโ€ (a voice barely heard), perhaps, but always loyal to its mission of being a tool of informationโ€ฆ independent and participative:

Besides, what good would another โ€œbelcantistโ€ be?

So, to answer the question without too much prose, we wish to continue being, as always, ourselves!

โ€œAdesti fidelis,โ€ as they say in Latin, but what loyalty can we ask of our readers if we are not ourselves loyal to our values and convictions?

Our concept of journalism is very simple: to circulate information and give everyone a voice to express their opinions. And then, to ask some questions to political leaders to see in which direction they want to lead the community that, through electoral voting, has entrusted them with the (heavy) responsibility of governing. Here, too, we have some ideas to express, and we do so without adopting any political stance: frankly, what a banality… to be honest, we love a City (possibly a future Metropolis) that is โ€œresponsible and supportive,โ€ as defined by Edgar Morin, far from the โ€œbling-bling yokelistanโ€ model and its drifts!

We are well aware of our shortcomings and flaws, which we try to correct despite the limited resources at our disposal.
But we are proud to possess the most precious asset, that of freedom of expression! We know well, and experience it daily, that it is not a gift from Heaven but a conquest that we maintain with difficulty but to which we must never give up because, as Pericles (master of Athens in antiquity and a symbol of republican democracy of that time) said… โ€œhappiness is freedom and freedom is bravery!โ€

Like everyone else, we too have dreams, but experience has taught us to be realistic and promise only what we feel capable of achieving: therefore, very modestly, we can only express our strong desire to improve and our commitment to succeed in doing so.
