The upcoming political season promises to be interesting with a first appointment (September 9 and 16) for the partial cantonal election of the Canton of Levens. These elections follow the decision of the Council of State on June 7, 2012, to annul the cantonal elections of March 20 and 27, 2011. It should be noted that Mr. Frère, mayor of Tourrettes-Levens and elected during this election, had appealed the judgment of the Administrative Court of Nice, which had made the same decision on September 13, 2011, due to observed irregularities.
The Left Collectives of Colomars and Levens have decided to re-nominate Mrs. Montserrat COLLET (a former school principal) as a candidate with Mr. Honoré GIRAUD (a former director of a Medical-Social facility) as a substitute based on the same orientations and programs.
The program of these candidates primarily emphasizes the involvement of the population in decision-making concerning them, whether in terms of medico-social action, public service, budgetary choices, equity between municipalities, or transparency in the allocation and management of public contracts.
The candidates of this political group hope that the momentum gained by the Left will improve the situation of individuals, provided that voters intervene to achieve change.
On the opposing political front, that of the identitarian group Nissa Rebela, the candidature of Benoît Vardon-Raybaud has also been submitted.
As in the previous election, Benoît Vardon-Raybaud will represent the identitarians in this election.
It should be recalled that it is in this canton that the identitarians achieved their best score in the cantonal elections of March 2011.
Benoît Vardon-Raybaud is 23 years old, he is a student in Occitan languages in Nice. An activist for many years within NISSA REBELA, he has been involved in all the struggles of the movement: fighting against hateful rap groups, actions against illegal immigration, “pork soup” distributed to the homeless, the campaign “Yes to socca, no to kebab.”
He is one of the leaders of the young identitarians of JOUINESSA REBELA and notably organized a large demonstration in front of the rectorate to defend the teaching of Nissart in the high schools of the Pays Niçois.
Under the slogan “Immigration, insecurity, centralism: ENOUGH!” an intense grassroots campaign is planned, with public meetings organized in each of the municipalities of the canton.
The National Front of the Alpes-Maritimes informs that Mr. Bruno Ligonie will defend the political project of the National Front in the partial cantonal election of September 9 and 16 in the Canton of Levens. Mrs. Danielle Cardin will be his substitute.
“23 years of mandate, that’s enough! And facing the left in power, let’s give them a good Right!” declares Bruno Ligonie.
These candidates will face Dr. Alain Frére, mayor since 1983 of Tourrette-Levens and vice-president of the General Council in charge of culture, and substitute of Christian Estrosi in the National Assembly, who, during the annulled election, had been elected with a comfortable lead of over 2500 votes.
As such, the prediction is already made…
