Elektron is above all a story driven by enthusiasts. In 2002, David Elalouf, a DJ and journalist, and Alexandre Berenci, the programmer of the Le Wash nightclub in Nice, decided to establish a cultural association. Since then, it has grown, and Olivier Kerdudo, DJ and journalist, Khaled Harrag, a lawyer, and Thierry Pelard, a composer and webmaster, have joined them in this endeavor.
Founded three years ago, the Elektron association organizes and promotes numerous events, fostering the exploration of modern artistic creation modes and digital arts (music, video, visual arts, etc.). The Nu-ZiQ festival is the most popular among them. Offering a showcase for electronic music artists in Nice, Nu-ZiQ was organized for the first time in June 2004. It incorporates two cultural dimensions closely related to the City of Nice: Jazz, which has been present for 50 years with the famous Cimiez festival, and Contemporary Art, from Matisse to Klein, including the School of Nice (Ben, Arman, etc.), which has always held a significant place in the lives of the people of Nice.
However, the list of events is still long. These events have allowed the association to establish connections with the public, as well as with local, national, and European stakeholders (artists, media, record labels, tour organizers, etc.).
Elektron also participates in the development and structuring of a network involving the electronic music scene in the PACA region (artists, organizers, etc.). This is particularly evident through the co-management of the electronic music skills hub in the Alpes-Maritimes, with the Inter’mèd association. Thus, the association has already compiled a database of over 50 artists representative of the electronic scene in the PACA region and has built a solid understanding of the professional circuit.
