Emotion at the funeral of Camille Muffat

The 2012 Olympic champion of the 400m, Camille Muffat, was laid to rest in the strictest privacy this Wednesday after a moving ceremony at the Saint Baptist-de-Voeu Church.

The white coffin of the London Olympic champion (25 years old) was first applauded by the crowd gathered in the rain before entering the building where her family, close friends, and many of her swimmer friends had gathered.

The ceremony, opened by an emotional speech by her father Guy, was marked by a poignant tribute from Charlotte Bonnet, her best friend and former training partner in Nice.

Among the attendees were Alain Bernard and Anne-Flore Marxer, who participated with Camille Muffat in “Dropped,” Yannick Agnel and Clรฉment Lefert, former training partners, Fabrice Pellerin, her former coach and mentor, Laure Manaudou, visibly moved, the president of the French Federation Francis Luyce and his National Technical Director Jacques Favre, the president of the CNOSF Denis Masseglia, the Prefect Adolphe Colrat, and Christian Estrosi, the mayor of Nice.
