The survey on “business labor needs” anticipates a new increase of 5.1% in the number of recruitment projects for the year 2016.


It records an additional 88,000 hiring projects in the 405 French employment areas and in the 24 sectors of the survey, marking the highest level observed over the past 7 years.

In total, 1,827,300 recruitment projects are planned, particularly in the service sector. The construction sector is also showing a marked recovery this year.

While 2015 was relatively positive concerning employment prospects with a rise of 2.3%, 2016 is promising with a new increase of 5.1% in the number of recruitment projects.

Services accelerate further, construction significantly recovers

The service sector represents more than two-thirds (65%) of labor needs in France in 2016. It is growing even faster this year than the average, with a +5.8% increase in 2016 compared to +5.1% for all sectors:

Personal services remain the top recruiter in France with 41% of projects in 2016. Its needs are growing by 4.5% in 2016.

Business services, which account for a quarter of recruitment intentions in France, are showing a very definite increase in 2016 with +8%.

The construction sector is seeing its recruitment intentions significantly increase with +12.4%. A new boost after the sharp decline experienced in 2015 (-16.6%), which had rendered the market completely stagnant.

The regions with the highest number of recruitment projects are also densely populated regions with major urban centers such as รŽle-de-France (17.7% of the country’s recruitment projects), Auvergne and Rhรดne-Alpes (13.3%) or PACA (10.5%).

In addition, fixed-term employment contracts make up 72%.
