Despite the ongoing dispute with the City Hall regarding the destination of the premises on Pontremoli Street, for which the association holds the lease and which the City Hall wants to expropriate to turn into a daycare center, the members of the En-Nour association are not ready to give up and are organizing a “march of support for the prayer hall for the dignity of all” this Sunday.
Their goal? To go to the prefecture to ask Mr. Prefect to refuse the opening of the preliminary inquiry for the Declaration of Public Utility (DUP) requested by the City Hall to be able to undertake the expropriation procedure.
For the organizers, “the city’s project to expropriate us to install a daycare center in place of the prayer hall is just a maneuver to prevent the Muslims of Nice from having a place of worship worthy of Nice. Yet, during the election campaign, the mayor had promised to allow the Muslims of Nice to have a large mosque.”
Their slogan is unambiguous: We respect our duties, letโs make our rights respected. No to the street, Yes to a place of prayer
Will they be heard, or better, understood?
It seems that diplomatic efforts are underwayโฆ
Surely, someone with common sense will be able to avoid this unnecessary conflict!
