The audience present in large numbers at the Grand Jardin was thrilled by the African music of the group Staff Benda Bilili, partly composed of singers and musicians with disabilities. The delighted spectators witnessed a musical performance that brought warmth to the coolness of the night and a show of rare emotion from this atypical group, which is becoming a sensational novelty of the musical summer in the French Riviera. *
Benda Bilili is a beautiful lesson in humanity never before seen on stage, a true anthem to life. Affected by polio, the members of the Congolese group all come from the streets (see the film of the same name that tells their story).
They have music as their only hope, and what music it is! African rhythms, original and astonishing melodies that set the hearts of music lovers ablaze.

If our Nuits du Sud festival is so renowned today, it’s because it is well deserved. The programming is varied, open to all kinds of world music as long as they are of high quality.
