The missions of the Maison de l’Environnement are multiple: educate about the environment, inform, spark interest, and provide knowledge on various topics such as living environment, waste sorting, noise reduction, water quality, energy savings, biodiversity, and more… Discover the program for October 2011.


Conferences

• October 14 at 6:30 PM: The wildlife of Ethiopia by Maguy BELIA from the Ligue de Protection des Oiseaux PACA.

• October 21 at 6:30 PM: “Potential savings in co-ownership properties” by Mélanie DUTRIEUX, advisor from the Info Energy Space of the City of Nice.

• October 28 at 6:30 PM: “Know and protect nature in your garden” by the Ligue de Protection des Oiseaux PACA.

Activities for children

The educational vegetable garden of the Maison de l’Environnement welcomes children on Wednesdays to introduce them to gardening with workshops on various themes such as germination, seeds and seedlings, identifying fragrant plants, the seasonality of fruits and vegetables…

Children will explore ecological alternatives for their school bags and will create school supplies using recycled materials.

• Wednesday, October 12: Yummy, the vegetables!

On the occasion of World Food Day (October 16), children will play and create a domino with food items.

• Wednesday, October 19: Water tasters

Children will discover the importance of water for health and play as “Water tasters.”

Training for adults

Training and distribution of individual compost bins by Nice Côte d’Azur (free and by reservation at 04 97 07 24 60)

Join awareness and support sessions for individuals wishing to maintain their balcony or garden while avoiding the use of pesticides to preserve their health and the environment.

Workshops are organized as part of the Nice “Zero Pesticide” plan, with training in alternative techniques and free distribution of crop auxiliaries.

Exhibition

The PHOTON collective, awarded at the 1st Environment Trophies, presents its original project: an exhibition open to the four winds, full of surprises, playing on the contrasts of permanent and fleeting, rooted and airy.

After the Carole de Roumanie park, it’s the Park of the Maison de l’Environnement that hosts this astonishing exhibition which challenges the public and invites them to discover in height moving photographs of the plant world!

As you walk through this life-sized exhibition, be attentive to the disturbance of your senses…

THE ESSENCE OF NICE by the TIGRE ROUGE association (Winner of the 1st Environment Trophies)

Do you know the city of Nice well? Through 12 artworks, rediscover the many facets of this city.

From the Promenade des Anglais to Place Masséna, passing by the Château de Nice, this exhibition presents all the biodiversity of our city and encourages us to preserve it.

This is a playful exhibition that is part of an eco-citizen approach. A course accessible to all audiences.

You can participate in this initiative by bringing some of your waste to the Maison de l’Environnement: newspapers, plastic bottles, tiles, polished glass pieces…
