Eric Ciotti climbs the ranks in the hierarchy of The Republicans.

Eric Ciotti’s commitment to François Fillon’s electoral campaign has been duly recognized: he has been appointed as deputy secretary general in charge of the federations.

It must be acknowledged that although he initially chose the wrong candidate for the primary (the President of the Departmental Council had initially backed Nicolas Sarkozy, for whom he was one of the two spokespersons), he quickly corrected his course and on the very evening of the former President of the Republic’s elimination in the first round, he packed up to support the latter’s former “collaborator.”

Since then, one must recognize his unwavering loyalty, even in the most unfavorable circumstances (various financial and moral “scandals”, indictment, drop in the polls). At the Trocadero, a key day for the continuation of François Fillon’s candidacy, he was in the front row and among the few who spoke (a predictive sign?) while others organized petitions and called for a “respectful exit.”

The other strong man of the republican right, Christian Estrosi is mentioned, proclaims his “loyalty” but also asserts his “freedom,” getting booed (by chance?) by the militants during a meeting, meets Emmanuel Macron “for republican courtesy” (of course).

As for Eric Ciotti, a true fighter, he remains fully engaged in the battle and rallies the local troops who are devoted and indebted to him: the new mayors of Cannes and Grasse, his right-hand man at the Departmental Council, Charles-Ange Ginesy, and many other elected officials.

This appointment amidst the electoral campaign is thus the seal of Eric Ciotti’s entry into the inner circle of Fillonists.

The result of the presidential campaign will also determine the future of this elected official who does not lack ambition: a ministerial position if all goes well, a leading role in the party otherwise, which will be very useful to influence the upcoming legislative elections predicted to be fierce.

Then, he will have to choose between a local or national position: for him, being both a deputy and the president of a departmental council, it will be the moment of decision-making.

Step aside before the big leap in the 2020 municipal elections?
