Last week, the ceremony for awarding the departmental medal to รrick Meygret took place.
This ceremony was held in the presence of รric Ciotti, who praised the work of รrick Meygret, director of the CLJ. The Nice Youth Leisure Center has over 50 years of existence, with one decade under the direction of Erick Meygret. He moved to Nice during his teenage years and passed the exam to become a police officer. After returning to Nice, he joined the CLJ as an instructor, accompanying the youth from the Ariane. The aim is to provide a new perspective of the police to the local youth through sports activities, “to represent us differently than on TV,” says Erick Meygret.
These activities also serve as a form of education as they instill the value of respect. The CLJ also offers projects throughout the school year with teachers. With the creation of citizenship engagement classes, the aim is to offer training such as first aid or others for the youth of the Ariane and Saint-Augustin neighborhoods. “The CLJ provides real answers to a youth often lacking in guidance,” adds Eric Ciotti.
The department supports the CLJ as it provides significant financial assistance of 55,000 euros, reflecting a 25% increase over four years. รric Ciotti commends the efforts of the CLJ by rewarding รrick Meygret with the departmental medal: “An individual reward but also a collective one.”
