Following its success in 2009 and 2010 with over 3,000 participants each year, Magnan is renewing its participation for the 3rd year in the National Animated Film Festival. From October 15 to 25 at the Espace Magnan, rue Coppet.


cine-magnan.jpg An event celebrating its 10th anniversary, coordinated by the AFCA (French Association for Animated Cinema) to promote animated cinema to audiences of all ages and encourage the discovery of the animation universe through professional encounters and events.

The 2011 edition highlights the TALE in all its animated forms and from various countries, notably through shadow theaters, from Lotte Reiniger to Michel Ocelot, previews, national releases, or recent releases, as well as an animated film about Cuban JAZZ for adults.

Around the screenings… a Cine-Tale-Concert, a Shadow Theater Show, Cine-Snacks, as well as workshops, an exhibition, a drawing contest, a leisure reception, and school sessions…!

Opening the 10th edition of the Animated Film Festival, Cine-concert The Adventures of Prince Ahmed, inspired by the first animated film (1926! – by Lotte Reiniger), from The Thousand and One Nights, by the company Des histoires qui font rêver…

Based on the first animated feature-length film in cinema history (Lotte Reiniger, cut-out silhouettes and shadow theater, 1923-26) and the tales of The Thousand and One Nights according to Naguib Mahfouz, Nobel Prize for Literature. Inspired by Aladdin, or the Wonderful Lamp and The Flying Horse.

Once upon a time, a storyteller and three musicians told us dream-inspiring stories, those of young prince Ahmed flying on a magical horse to the distant land of Wak-Wak… Madly in love with the beautiful Pari Banu, he must face his most terrible enemy: the African Magician!
