Nice and France Travail organized an unconventional job dating event centered around Esports. The event was inspired by the “From Stadium to Employment” format, anonymously mixing recruiters and candidates in collective activities.
At first glance, the atmosphere resembles a friendly tournament between video game enthusiasts. However, it was indeed a job-focused meeting held on Friday, July 18th, in Nice. For the first time, the “From Stadium to Employment” concept was adapted to the world of Esports.
The principle: create mixed teams composed of recruiters and job seekers, without revealing their roles. These groups first participate in fun activities drawn from Esports before discovering everyone’s professional identity. A traditional job dating session follows this initial phase.
The idea is based on a simple goal: break the usual recruitment codes, often deemed rigid or stressful, and highlight human and relational qualities in a neutral setting. These meetings aim to allow employers to view candidates differently, outside of their resumes.
A growing format
This type of meeting is part of a national trend. In 2024, more than 4,200 job seekers and 550 companies participated in “From Stadium to Employment” events. In 2025, more than 50 sessions are planned in the Grand Est. In Nice, the experiment around Esports marks a significant evolution of the concept.
The event brought together around twenty companies from various sectors and nearly a hundred candidates, supported beforehand by the France Travail teams. No sports skills were required. Only the desire to participate mattered.
This initiative is also part of a local strategy. For several months, the City of Nice has been asserting its intention to make Esports a key element of territorial development.
France Travail is ready to repeat the experience. The approach seems to have convinced both companies and candidates. By combining game, teamwork, and professional opportunities, this format seeks to rethink the meeting between job supply and demand.
