The candidate who can demonstrate how to use the encrypted software without the necessary CM-Stick protection key for its operation will pocket the sum of 32,768 Euros. If not, half of the reward will be given to the one who decrypts one of the 3 program modules.

The competition will take place from February 1st to March 14th, 2007. Competitors must register at www.hackers-contest.com and request the CM-Stick USB protection key. This 256 MB memory stick comes with a secure password manager and a file encryption program. It also allows for the storage of software usage licenses that can be used on different PCs.

The results will be known on March 15, 2007, at the CeBIT computer fair in Hanover, Germany.

“This challenge allows hackers to demonstrate their skills,” specifies Oliver Winzenried, CEO of WIBU-SYSTEMS.

“If a candidate is able to break our CodeMeter protection, we will take the necessary measures to improve it. Otherwise, we will have demonstrated that it is impossible to crack a program protected with our technology. No other company has yet dared to issue such a challenge.”
