€45 million for the redevelopment of Isola 2000

Latest News

The redevelopment project for the Isola 2000 station is back on the table after being set aside for nearly 10 years. On the agenda: 45 million euros planned for the next five years.

For 10 years, this redevelopment project was blocked mainly due to a legal dispute. On Tuesday, January 18, Christian Estrosi, president of the Nice Côte d’Azur metropolis, announced to the Isola municipal council that these blockages were now lifted.

He therefore presented the station’s investment program of 45 million euros over the next five years. The municipal elected officials will make a decision soon.

Here is what should change by 2027 if this development project is adopted.

The ski front will be redeveloped: three ski lifts will be removed and replaced by a detachable six-seater chairlift and two magic carpets.

A recreational area will be created in the Belvédère-Roubine sector: a rail sled will be built, a toboggan run will be installed, a zip line created, and the Belvédère ski lift will be dismantled to be replaced by a gondola lift.

The Pelevos gondola lift will be modernized: the cabins will be replaced either by a new gondola or a chairlift. In both cases, the new equipment will be connected to the P2 parking lot.

The snowmaking network’s production capacities will be secured: a new reservoir capable of storing up to 125,000 cubic meters of water will be set up.
