Eureka! The “day of glory has arrived”: the tramway starts its runs.

Latest News

The West-East line, commonly known as line 2 of the tramway, will be inaugurated this Saturday… well, the first section that runs from Magnan to the Administrative Center (CADAM).

After many presentations and pre-inaugurations, we will finally be able to enjoy the very reason for this investment: to promote mobility and transport passengers!

But we also fully understand the satisfaction of the Mayor of Nice, who strongly advocated for this project, faced criticism for the cost and additional expenses, and took a political gamble on the success of this investment.

How many opponents and “friends” would have liked an unforeseen event to ruin everything? The list is certainly not short.

It is therefore quite normal that now, in his dual role as the Mayor of Nice and President of the Metropolis—it’s the latter who is officially in charge of the project, even though it’s the former who benefits directly since the route is entirely within the territory of Nice—he reaps the benefits.

In view of the entertaining and educational activities for children and adults, one might wonder whether the inauguration concerns a public service or some sort of Disneyland, given how packed the schedule is.

But we know that austerity is not the style of the house and that the formula of offering the “vulgus” a bit of “circenses” (circus games) always works.

For those who think that a tram is simply a tram and that it’s not the 8th wonder of the world but merely a means of transport, a little patience is needed.

Once the festivities are over, you can board in complete tranquility and travel according to your needs.

Additionally, until September 2nd, it will be free!!!
