Nice returns to Europe thanks to a “wild card” granted to France and starts its season tonight at Jean Bouin at 7:30 PM by hosting the German team Spandau, four-time winner of the competition in the 1980s.
This is a great opportunity for the people of Nice who will be able to face the crème de la crème of European water polo and thus gain valuable experience. The commitment from Nice lasts three years, allowing them to plan a gradual progression over time.
This adventure, as it can be defined, will enable the athletes from Nice to gain a new perspective on this Olympic sport, which has a long tradition in the azure capital, boasting French championship titles and remaining a reference point for French water polo.
After the qualifying matches, 12 teams, divided into 2 groups of 6, will play 10 home-and-away matches.
The competition will conclude with a “Final 6” at the end of May.
The ONN schedule includes visits from OSC Budapest (December 12), Brescia (February 8, 2017), Szolnok (March 1), and Olympiacos Piraeus (March 22) following the visit from Spandau.
