The Europétanque will take place on July 18, 19, 20, and 21 in Nice. 3,000 pétanque players, 40,000 spectators: Nice, for three days, transforms into the capital of pétanque. The main arena this year will be located at the Forum Masséna and will become, as Jean-Claude Muscat, the organizer, calls it, “the temple of pétanque.” This will be a return to the roots with stands that can accommodate up to 2,000 spectators. There will also be action on the Promenade des Anglais and the Jardin Albert 1er.
The Europétanque in Nice will gather the elite of this sport not only among men and women but also young players. The best young pétanque players will earn a qualification for the youth masters in Limoges. Europétanque will also be an opportunity to celebrate the local team, the DUC, multiple champions of France, led by their stars Quintais, Lacroix, and Suchaud. The competition will be fierce with the participation of the defending champions, Malbecq-Lamour-Hureau, and international teams from Madagascar, Belgium, and Italy. We should also mention a competition that draws the interest of spectators: the personalities tournament.
