A week after the conclusion of the Mondial la Marseillaise à pétanque, the other major pétanque event of the summer is now set to open its doors. Since its inception, Europétanque has written, year after year, some of the finest chapters of this discipline. For the 18th edition, 3,000 pétanque players from 20 different nations will participate.
The 2019 edition is expected to maintain the tradition. Stars will be present, such as Philippe Quintais, Henri Lacroix, and Philippe Suchaud, and the Nice public is expected to follow their progress with passion.
Another point of interest is the numerous foreign teams representing Spain, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Israel, Belgium, Portugal, Canada, Senegal, Madagascar, Russia, Norway, Italy under the leadership of the campionissimo Laigueglia, Switzerland with Maïky Molinas, Mamour Molinas, and Didier Sénézergues, and a strong Monegasque delegation led by the defending champions, Motte/Millo/Gioe.
But many other great players will also be there. And, of course, as with every edition, all the talents from the great South will be present.
Among the women, the roster should also be of high quality, with teams dreaming of inscribing their names in the record books of the flagship event on the Côte d’Azur.
This promises, from Saturday to Monday evening, superb confrontations and high-level play within the Henri Bernard and Gé Gallaratto boulodromes, perpetuating, for another year, the golden legend of the Europétanque des Alpes-Maritimes.
